Ultrasonic imaging has become an important diagnostic tool in veterinary medicine. Ultrasound images are produced by sound waves that bounce from a transducer to a tissue and back. It is a noninvasive procedure that allows visualization of organs such as the kidneys, liver, heart, pancreas, adrenal glands, urinary bladder, and other structures.

Abdominal ultrasound can detect pregnancies, urinary stones, prostatic disease, adrenal tumors, pancreatitis, liver disease, gastrointestinal disease, kidney disease, as well as, many other conditions.
