I am Dr. Mary Beth Soverns, a proud graduate of the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine in 1986. In 1988, my husband, Dr. Carroll Thumel, and I co-founded Countryside Veterinary Clinic.
I am a 2006 graduate of the Virginia- Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. I am originally from Maryland and have been practicing at Countryside since graduating in 2006!

I graduated from Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech in 2017.
Emily grew up here in Maryland where she rode horses and found she had a huge love for animals. She currently has a boxer named Tasha and they love hiking together. She has a passion for photography and horticulture and took classes in both at Montgomery College.
Brooke has been a veterinary assistant with Countryside since 2008, but her family have been clients of ours for over 25 years! She is currently attending Catonsville Community College of Baltimore County and is interested in becoming a Registered Veterinary Technician.
From the time Sky was little, she always knew she had a passion for animals. She grew up in Glen Burnie MD, where she spent a lot of her time with her grandparents who rescued many different types of animals and she helped train and take care of them!
Ethan always has a lifelong love of animals and a true compassion to care for them. He says he is overjoyed to be able to work with and love on your pets daily! In his free time he enjoys playing guitar, skateboarding, and playing with his pitbull, "Pax".
Grace grew up in Howard County and graduated from Towson University in 2025. She’s always loved working with animals, has run her own pet-sitting business, and has experience in doggy daycare. She has two dogs, Cooper, an English Cream Golden Retriever, and Lola, a French Bulldog.
